On February 27, 2015 Leonard Nimoy passed away.
When I was young I was a huge fan of Star Trek and my
favourite character was Mr. Spock.
Leonard played the character perfectly and gave me hours
of enjoyment watching him and Shatner get into, and out of, all kinds of trouble.
My favourite episode was the one which featured the ‘Evil
Spock’, it was an instant classic.
Of course Star Trek was not the only thing Leonard Nimoy
starred in that I enjoyed when I was young.
He played Paris in seasons 4 and 5 of the television classic MISSION:
IMPOSSIBLE.
This show was awesome and Leonard Nimoy was the only human
being alive who could have successfully replaced Martin Landau.
If you have not seen the old MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE, you should go to your
local library and check out the discs. Here on the Gold Coast the library
system has seasons 1 through 5.
Leonard Nimoy enlisted in
the United States Army Reserves in the early 1950s.
He spent 18 months in the
Reserves, with most of his time at Ft.
McPherson in Georgia.
In 1955 Leonard was discharged as a sergeant.
Some of his time in the
military was spent putting on shows for the Army Special Services branch.
Leonard wrote, narrated,
and emceed these shows.
During this time In the army, he played Stanley in the Atlanta Theatre Guild's
production of A Streetcar Named Desire.
In 1958 he appeared in the movie The Brain Eaters playing Professor
Cole.
He was billed as Leonard Nemoy.
If you
haven’t seen this B movie classic, you should.
Leonard Nimoy will be remembered as a great actor and a
greater human being.
He left us with a pearl of wisdom in his final tweet to his
fans.
